What is yaoi and shonen-ai?

Yaoi and shonen-ai has become more popular, ne? If you are not sure, here's the definitions.

"Yaoi" refers to guy x guy relationships of a sexual nature. Characters in yaoi settings need not have any interest in each other.

My definition of yaoi: A strong feminine belief that love trancends gender. Yeah, it's TOTALLY different.

Shonen-ai is if two guys love each other but don't have a sexual realationship, just kissing, hugging, all that.

Gee, would this site really be yaoi? Maybe it would be just the fanfiction. I hope I didn't confuse you anymore.

But remember, this is my definitions of shonen-ai and yaoi. It could be wrong, it could be right. I'm not Japanese, so I really don't know.

What is doujinshi?

More likely, when they say doujinshi, they are referring to fan-made comics from Japan. Techincally doujinshi are any sort of unofficial written and/or illustrated stories, most likely of another anime.

Like that picture. Yeah, that's the cover of a Yu Yu Hakusho yaoi HxK doujinshi. Interesting, no?

What is a bishonen?

Another well-asked about term.

Bishonen literally means "pretty (or beautiful)" (bi) + "boy" (shonen). Generally, the term bishonen applies to male anime charaters who are young (approx. 13 - 18 years old) very attractive and pretty, and even feminine to some degree, like they have long hair, slender builds, might be gay, etc.

Here's another term for you.Yes, technically, this site has "biseinen" (beautiful men).

Hiei (I'm positive he is not in the 13-18 yr. old range, though he may look it. XD) and Yoko Kurama are the two biseinen and the human Kurama is in the bishonen cage. You know it. =^.~=
